(PIN)OCCHIO: The Soul’s Journey is a contemporary dance-theatre performance inspired by Carlo Collodi’s classic tale, reimagined as an existential journey through identity, truth and freedom.

Far from the sentimental versions popularised by mass culture, the work delves into the darker and more philosophical dimensions of the myth. In a world increasingly shaped by manipulation, spectacle and post-truth, the puppet becomes a symbol of the modern human condition. 

Through a language of physical theatre, butoh-inspired movement and silent cinematic imagery, the performance unfolds without words. Influenced by the thought of Friedrich Nietzsche, Byung-Chul Han and Pier Paolo Pasolini, the piece invites the audience to question the masks that define our identities and the invisible strings that shape our lives. 

(PIN)OCCHIO ultimately proposes a journey of transformation — from obedience to freedom, from illusion to awareness — asking a simple yet radical question:

Are we still puppets… or are we ready to become truly human?
